Hi, I'm Sindhu
/sin-dh-oo/

I'm a UX designer with roots in Architecture & Graphic design. My background in design trained me to analyze the nuances of how humans interact with space and experience objects around them. With this practice, I always put people at the center of my design process. I strongly believe that our experiences shape who we are. As a designer, I strive to build meaningful experiences that empower and delight people.
My research interests lie at the intersection of technology, design, well-being, and behavioral psychology. I am excited by both, big picture system design as well as the nitty-gritty details of product design. Here are some of my selected academic works.

Sakhi, let's fight breast cancer together.

Sakhi means a friend or companion in Sanskrit.
Sakhi is a health literacy platform that helps Breast cancer patients better understand their condition through clinical methods and communities of support. Sakhi is a patient-centric social and professional network for managing & navigating treatments. Sakhi empowers its users to improve care, quality of life and fight breast cancer.

The positive, supportive social environment improves cognitive processing- alleviating psychological distress and enhances quality of life.

Senjamall - Dashboard for Building Manager

Does Data elicit empathy, strategic preparedness and response plan for Building Managers in the context of 'The New Normal' ?

The novel COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the built environment, causing great disruption to how building managers previously managed their systems and operations. This new normal will cause building managers to follow stricter guidelines and safety measures and show occupants that safety and protection is of the utmost importance. In addition to frequent cleaning and disinfection, building managers must act as quickly and efficiently as possible to achieve a particular level of indoor air quality (IAQ).

Data Visualization - Building occupancy and Indoor air quality

The thought behind this visualization is 'why data has to be always about numbers, regular geometric shapes and how to make it meaningful?'. Data Visualization of Senjamall dashboard is an attempt to elicit empathy. Buildings are not lifeless objects, they enable living. They breathe. The tender petals represents different spaces in the building, veins represent air and tiny color spots represent density of occupants. The health of the building is represented through the change in color of the petals and veins.
