I’m Tara, a soon-to-be Design Graduate based in Melbourne (Naarm). My design interests span across digital publishing, identity, editorial design and typography. My practice is driven not only by outcome, but also by process itself, and all the observation, constraint, research and experimentation that comes with it. This is what inspires my design learning.

Volunteer Handbook

A reimagined volunteer handbook for Back2Bikes, constructed using a new identity that was created for the organisation as a part of the Not For Nothin’ studio. Back2Bikes is a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in providing affordable bike repair and transport options to the local community. A community-based and volunteer-run initiative, Back2Bikes works alongside other social welfare organisations to provide free refurbished bikes to those in need, such as refugees, the long-term unemployed, those seeking asylum as well as the disabled community.

Volunteer Handbook

Presented as a palm sized A6 booklet, the volunteer handbook was created with its users in mind. The handbook is small enough to fit in your back pocket and is well-suited to being carried around the workshop by volunteers.

Volunteer Handbook

Summarising all the relevant information that a Back2Bikes volunteer may need to know, the handbook systemises what was previously an overload of information that sprawled across multiple documents and webpages. The information is presented in a fun and engaging way which reflects the spirit of the organisation and the community that it engages with.

Volunteer Handbook

The process of volunteering with Back2Bikes is a fun and inclusive community-based activity. This project aims to firstly get people informed, and secondly get people excited about getting involved with the organisation, by reflecting the culture which Back2Bikes has built.

Volunteer Handbook

This handbook was built using a completely new identity which was also created for the organisation as a part of this project. The new identity is bold and assured, bringing together engaging written and visual language to create consistent communications.

Volunteer Handbook

Back2Bikes brings together several different groups of people through its expansive list of bike-related services and recycled products. This includes local community members wanting to get involved or donate, specialty groups who are looking for support, as well as other organisations wanting to work alongside Bike2Bikes. The refreshed visual identity aims to remain approachable to the organisation’s broad demographics.
