Hi, my name is Tedo Hariyawan, and I am a student at Monash University studying Industrial Design. Academically, I am interested in designing products for mass consumption. e-VALUE bin is an electric, compact, indoor food waste recycler that reduces organic matter's volume by 90%, eliminating odor and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions. The end product is a sterile, odorless and nutrient-rich soil fertilizer produced from food waste. e-VALUE bin is intended for home use when turning food waste into a valuable resource, e.g. compost, could not be done due to barriers such as limited living spaces, inefficiency, and concerns about the odor created by compost piles.

e-Value was designed with a spirit and lofty objective: to offer households with an alternative to VALUE their food waste, other than home composting; an easy, simple and compact one.
The DGC-cycle
The DGC-cycle stands for "Drying, Grinding and Cooling" and it refers to the three processes involved in this product.
The combination of the drying and grinding processes will reduce the food scraps' volume up to 90%.
Lastly, the cooling process will ensure continuous aeration and dehumidifying as well as cooling the end product to room temperature for safe handling.

Compact and counter-top friendly.
The small, simple and compact design fits any counter-tops, hence it is suitable for users with limited spaces at home.
Revised & Improved
The revised and improved bin's internal structure and overall form of the design means that it is able to achieve the maximum processing capacity without having to increase its dimension. Its internal capacity is 30% larger in comparison to the competitor's product on the market, while its outside remains small and compact. The digital screen is added as a user interface to track the different phases of the waste reduction and transformation process, while providing an estimated end time.
Why does it exist?
Every idea starts with a problem. Ours was simple: composting in tight spaces at home and without odor nuisance is almost impossible. We re-think of an alternative to keep VALUE-ing your household food waste without causing too much nuisance at home or to your neighborhood.
