Xinyin (Kamen) Huang

The project is to design a major collateral item for The Song Room. The Song Room’s goal is to serve as many children as possible, however they now help children mostly through schools, and they do not cover all schools because it relies on whether the schools work with them or not. So I decided to assist them in developing an app that would allow children to take classes online whenever they wanted, so that children who want to learn music or arts could do so. I make two versions of the app, one on a mobile phone and one on a larger display like an IPad.

This project is about exploring a place that few people know about. I chose a small village that I never knew existed in my city before until I saw someone share photos of it. The village has many old brick and concrete buildings, full of cultural heritage, tucked away in the middle of the city centre. For this project, I decided to photograph the patterns and windows in the village’s buildings, highlighting their broken and flawed beauty. Walking through the door on the first page is a step back in time. Some of the windows were cut out and reassembled into new ones, brightening and colouring them a little to make them more interesting and vibrant.

This is a project to design a cover for a song and a series of web banners. Since the song Blonde is soft and slow, I incorporated a slight floating feel into the design by arranging the letters in a slow wave-like pattern. As this song gives me a metallic feeling, the velvet material is used to convey this metallic glossy feeling. The velvet has a soft texture to the touch and thus has a soft feel.

This is a series of identification applications for Museum Of The Home, a museum about middle-class family life in the United Kingdom across the generations. What’s on offer here tells you what’s happened in the house in the past, what’s occurring now, and what’s going to happen in the future. The doors in the logo design depict the various doors through which you can travel through time when you open them.

The goal of this project is to create an animated video with sound. Travis is a boy who is late for a school trip tomorrow and whose mother had warned him to get up on time the night before, but he still misses his wake up time and misses the school bus to the school trip. This narrative is intended to teach children that being late might disrupt their plans and to teach them the importance of being on time.
