Unmaking, the unknown, psychoanalysis and touch are the central themes of my project. Examining how touch breaks down and transforms objects, I am interested in the potential transformation at the level of the body.
Taking the psychotherapeutic work of Brazilian artist Lygia Clark as a starting point, I am examining the participant’s experience of using touch to alter a malleable form. In particular, I am developing further on Clarke’s use of the mobius strip as a means of enfolding the participant within the work by combing the mobius and zip forms. The Mobius zip is used as a framework for transformation, as it allows a continuous circle/cycle to play out between undoing and re-doing.
