This body of work seeks to innovate new conceptions of the body and space in contemporary art through the application of a fat critical lens. Working from the perspective of fat embodiment, my sculptural practice becomes a tool for questioning the conceptual and material limits of the body and how these limits manifest in specific sites. By centring my art practice and research around the site of Caulfield Fish and Chips, I examine how the histories and associations tied to the fish and chip shop influence the conception of the body. Class, colonization, immigrant experience and fatness coalesce in the waste sunflower oil that has formed the material basis of much of my work
