My graduating project is an on-going commitment to collecting both the stories and objects of workers employed at the former Lakeside Psychiatric Hospital in Ballarat. Compellingly, most records of staff at these institutions have been destroyed from public record, and few items relating to workers at Lakeside have been preserved by museum collections. Presenting a selection of testimonies alongside the objects many of the staff chose to keep, their keys, I explore the complexity of power that comes from a lock and key.
