I found writing more important in my youth. It felt monuments, coming of age. Every piece of media I consume has a complex woman at its lead. Its almost like I don’t need myself anymore. My character is everywhere. Fuelled by a quarter life crisis, this project seeks to reclaim the present and a time passed. When self-consciousness hadn’t seeped in yet. The works present here are a culmination of my own found works and my reinterpretations. Through crafted ciphers, choppy creation and careful consideration I endeavoured to create something raw and honest but also intensely private. This is a portrait, realised after the fact.
Memories No. 2
This video work serves as a memory. Compiling recent events and those of years past to form a reel of lived experiences. This video is a companion piece to my written publications, seen together they form a portrait and biography. Clips compiled here have been taken on the unceded lands of the Arrernte; Antakarinja; Jaitmatang; Boonwurrung peoples and in Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
Cipher No. 3
These hand stitched publications function as a sort of diary. Written in code, and created through a series of relief prints, it is a challenge to the audience to decipher the meaning. Inside, the artist book contains, reflections, memories, dreams and thoughts.
