Sarah is a Melbourne/Naarm based curator whose interests lie in creating alternative exhibition spaces and deconstructing the white cube gallery space. (un)inhabited space is a four part podcast series and guided audio walk. It documents the conversations which contribute to my understanding of how the mind and body can operate in two divergent spheres, at once. The audio walk presents my conflicting feelings around the tension this creates - privatisation of public space: at times a euphoric fusion, and at others, an exclusive world, where you are an imposter.

(un)inhabited space

(un)inhabited space is a four-part podcast series and accompanying curated audio walk. Following the route, the listener engages, simultaneously in the public and private spheres. Their body in physical space, but via the consumption of audio a privacy is formed, an oxymoronic fusion of supposed antonyms. It unpacks the ways patriarchal, colonial, and capitalist pillars have established the inaccessibility of public spaces to marginalised people, relative to a creative art context. Stemming from my own fears and vulnerabilities entering a seemingly exclusive industry as a soon to be graduate, this project aims to clarify how I will fit in to the private world of the Melbourne arts ecology.
