Overview

The Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME) is a strategic international network of medical schools that share a common interest in developing exemplary health professional leaders of the future and undertaking impactful research​.

We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to the 8th Meeting of the Global Alliance of Medical Excellence (GAME) hosted by Monash University, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences (MNHS)
on the 7 – 8 November, 2024 in Melbourne, Australia.

  • Day One - 7 November 2024

    Day Program

    • Program sessions including GAME for Medical Research and GAME for Medical Education presentations and discussions
    • PhD student poster sessions
    • Tours of Monash University’s flagship campus
    • Visit Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens & Shrine of Remembrance

    Evening program

    • Welcome dinner at Cumulus Inc, featuring Victorian produce through seasonal sharing menus

  • Day Two - 8 November 2024

    Day program

    • Future focussed program sessions including keynote and GAME strategy discussions
    • Meet up sessions between GAME member visiting researchers and educators, and Monash academics, to foster collaboration
    • Sightseeing visit to iconic Bathing Boxes located in the the seaside destination of Brighton

    Evening program

    • Farewell dinner at waterfront restaurant, Elwood Bathers, overlooking Port Phillip Bay

SESSION 4a - SHOWCASE AND TOUR ANATOMY EDUCATION AT MONASH UNIVERSITY

This session will explore and highlight how the Centre of Anatomy supports medical education in the 21st century. Strategies for teaching with emerging technologies and preparing students for anatomy learning in the context of professional skills will be discussed. A highlight of this session will be the tour of our contemporary, state-of-the-art anatomy facility alongside a showcase of our innovative teaching resources (including cutting-edge 3D print technology) and methods.

SESSION 4b - TOUR OF FISHCORE AT AUSTRALIAN REGENERATIVE MEDICINE INSTITUTE

(CONCURRENT RESEARCH FOCUSSED SESSION)

The ARMI FishCore facility is the largest zebrafish facility of its kind in the southern hemisphere, consisting of 1000 quarantine tanks and 5200 main facility tanks (non quarantine). FishCore houses genetically modified and mutant strains of zebrafish that model a variety of human diseases and conditions.

FishCore is also currently running a pilot system to house axolotl and shark embryos for research, with the intention of developing larger scale facilities in the future.
