About us

Australian Household Food Insecurity Information Hub is a central location where practitioners, volunteers, academics and students can access information about household food insecurity in Australia.

The background

In April 2015, key stakeholders from Australia's charitable food sector gathered at a Food Security Research Forum in Melbourne to connect, learn and explore opportunities for future collaborative work. As a result the web-based community of practice website: Australia's Charitable Food Sector was created.

Our last review and survey results in 2020 of the community of practice website highlighted the need for a platform focused on providing a range of information on food insecurity.

Based on this, the original community of practice website has evolved to the Australian Household Food Insecurity Information Hub.
