The Monash Centre for Astrophysics (MoCA) was formally established in 2011, comprising researchers and students from the Schools of Physics and Mathematical Sciences at Monash University, Australia. Formerly the Centre for Stellar and Planetary Astrophysics (CSPA), the centre was intended to serve as a national focus for theoretical astrophysics in the areas of stellar and planetary science. Since the CSPA's inception in 2001, the breadth of astrophysics research at Monash has widened significantly.

Since 2015, most MoCA staff have joined the new School of Physics and Astronomy.

MoCA is one of the most diverse astrophysical research groups in Australia, and our strategic goals include maintaining our leading role in theory while building further on our observational research strengths.

Current research within MoCA can be divided into the following areas:
