We invite applications from exceptional leaders to join the University
From the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice-President, Mr Peter Marshall AM
Thank you for your interest in the role of Occupational Health Physician (OHP) at Monash University. In collaboration with our executive search partner, Alumni Global, we are delighted to offer comprehensive information on this site, enabling you to assess the role and its context within the University landscape.
Established in 1958, Monash University is an international, high-quality, and globally-recognised institution. We have a distinguished reputation for our evolving excellence in research and education and our inclusive, entrepreneurial culture. We pride ourselves on developing the best and brightest graduates and supporting all members of our community to thrive throughout their association with the University, and beyond.
In 2021, we released our new decadal Strategic Plan, Impact 2030, which articulates Monash’s purpose in reaching beyond the University to develop solutions that address three challenges of our age: climate change, geopolitical security and thriving communities. Through our education and research, our global network of campuses and our enterprising and inclusive nature, we seek a better future for all.
Last year we welcomed back a significant cohort of international students, following the re-opening of borders around the globe. Our staff and students are once again travelling, both domestically and internationally, and we are acutely aware of our duty of care to every valued member of our community. Additionally, our residential facilities are returning to capacity, and we are excited about the return of a vibrant campus experience.
We are now seeking to identify suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the role of OHP, to ensure that our staff and students are healthy and well, and access care if they need it, wherever they work, study and/or travel.
This role oversees a rich and diverse portfolio of activities, including being the key advisor for any serious medical issues or incidents that the University encounters, including pandemics, individual incidents, international travel-related complexities, disease outbreaks and ongoing matters of occupational health and wellbeing.
The OHP will partner closely with the University executive, the University Health Service, the Department of Health, and a variety of other key stakeholders.
The successful candidate will be a voice of authority and reason, rapidly garnering the respect of the university community through confident, accurate, timely, and considered provision of advice and leadership in medical related matters. The appointee will be engaging, collegiate, and collaborative, communicating with respect and from a position of deep knowledge and experience in the areas of responsibility.
This is a pivotal role for the University, one upon which we rely heavily, through times of normal operations and unpredictable events, such as COVID.
We are excited to learn more about your experience and suitability through this process, and we encourage you to engage with Marcus Engeman or Laurence Sims from Alumni Global, to learn more about this opportunity.
I look forward to meeting you should you progress through the selection process, and I thank you once again for your interest.
Kindest regards,
Mr Peter Marshall AM
