About the Portfolio
Education is one of the two core purposes of Monash University, and is critical to the realisation of all four goals under Impact 2030: Monash University Strategic Plan 2021 - 2030. Advancing excellence in education and research, as well as building and embedding significant capabilities and achievements in areas such as international, enterprise and inclusion, requires strategic leadership, direction and coordination across the senior leadership team and the University more broadly.
The Portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Senior Vice-President leads Monash University's integrated approach to education, and partners with faculties and divisions to shape and deliver the University's education agenda. Among other things, the Portfolio is responsible for: Indigenous education and strategy, learning and teaching, social inclusion, strategic course development, student academic experience, academic course governance, and education policy and quality
Impact 2030 clearly states Monash’s commitment to fostering a society that recognises, respects and includes Indigenous peoples, cultures and knowledges. Within the Education portfolio, the William Cooper Institute facilitates Indigenous programs, services and activities across the University and provides a range of support services to current and prospective Indigenous students. The Institute works to implement and achieve Monash University's aspirations in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Framework: 2019-2030.
