9:30am WELCOME - Morwell Innovation Centre
Arrive from 9:30am for registration, refreshments and to try out HoloLens (augmented reality technology for enhanced telehealth) and GigXR’s HoloPatient (holographic simulation of standardised patient scenarios).
10:30am Official opening

Host: A/Prof Robert Dawson, Director, Gippsland Regional Training Hub, Monash Rural Health.

Opening address: Kellie O’Callaghan, Chair, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Interim Regional Body.

Keynote: Dr Derk Pol, Co-Founder, Gippsland Cardiology Service.

Panel: on rural health futures, featuring:

  • Dr Kathryn Kirkpatrick, Medical Advisor Strategy, Rural Workforce Agency Victoria.
  • Angela Jacob, Acting CEO, Gippsland Primary Health Network.
  • Ashleigh Munro, Chair, Centre of Excellence for Aboriginal Health, East Gippsland.
  • Jane Anderson, Latrobe Health Advocate.
  • Dr Maddie Leung, Psychiatry Registrar, Mildura Base Public Hospital.
1pm A bus transfer will be available from the Morwell Innovation Centre to the Traralgon Butter Factory.

Over lunch, delegates will hear about the support provided by the Gippsland Regional Training Hub and the Dr JuMP medical mentoring program.

2:30pm Stream One delegates (Colleges, Health Services and Other Organisations)

Engage in facilitated discussions on developing regional and rural training pathways.

Stream Two delegates (Medical Students and Pre-Vocational Doctors)
A return bus transfer will be available to Latrobe Regional Health.

Tour Latrobe Regional Health’s newest facilities and learn more about regional career opportunities, including a focused session on General Practice and the Victorian Rural Generalist Program.

  The afternoon sessions will conclude at 4.45pm, allowing time to rest and refresh before dinner.

A bus transfer will travel to De Grandi’s Winery, leaving the Mantra Traralgon at 5.45pm.

The Congress will close with a convivial dinner, during which guests will hear from:

  • Dr Jacqueline McDonnell, The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
  • Dr David Campbell, Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.
 A bus transfer after dinner will depart from De Grandi’s Winery at 9.30pm, returning to the Mantra Hotel.
