Jordan Nash

The Faculty of Science at Monash University in the City of Melbourne, Australia is a vibrant, dynamic and world-renowned community passionate about science. Fundamental to our vision is the appointment of world-class staff who will make a vital contribution to the Faculty.

We have invested over $200 million to transform the Clayton-based Science Faculty into one of the leading science precincts in the Southern hemisphere. We are equally committed to investing in staff, and will be seeking to appoint the following senior leadership roles:

  • Head of School of Mathematics
  • Head of School of Physics and Astronomy

The Monash Science precinct is strategically located within Melbourne’s innovation precinct, which brings together world-class, cross-disciplinary teams to develop disruptive, breakthrough technology at the Australian Synchrotron and the CSIRO.

In addition to access to a number of major hospitals nearby the Victorian government is building the Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) on Monash’s Clayton campus - an Australian-first heart hospital, which brings together the world’s best in cardiovascular care, research and training.

About the roles

  • School of Mathematics

    The School of Mathematics has recently achieved well above world standard for our Pure Mathematics and Applied Mathematics streams. We have strong collaborations with other Schools such as Physics and Astronomy, Earth Atmosphere and the Environment, Computer Science, and other faculties such as Business and Economics, Arts, Medicine IT and Engineering including strong linkages with external entities including the CSIRO, the Defence Science and Technology Organisation, and the National Australia Bank, along with numerous research institutes and universities globally. Recruitment of the Head of School, Mathematics has been completed.

  • School of Chemistry

    The School of Chemistry is one of the top chemistry research and teaching departments in Australia. It provides an undergraduate program with major in Chemistry as well as service programs for non-majors in Science (environmental and bio-sciences) and for other faculties (Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences). The School of Chemistry is committed to research and teaching of the highest quality. To help us achieve our aims, we have a strong complement of academic, research and professional staff and a significant student population. Recruitment of the Head of School, Chemistry has been completed.

  • School of Physics and Astronomy

    The School of Physics and Astronomy is passionate about creating a truly collaborative learning and research environment, where students drive their own learning and benefit first hand from our world-leading research programs. The School is going through an exciting period of renewal - investing significantly in people and facilities. We provide research opportunities for creative students and scientists to work on a wide range of fundamental research topics, which will have impact for future generations.
