Monash ESG Statement Renewal

In 2025 Monash University is renewing its sustainability commitments with a new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Statement.

Our ESG Statement sets out our priorities to foster sustainable and responsible practice across our teaching and research, our investments and operations, as well as how we engage with partners and the communities we serve. Monash has reported annually on progress against these priorities since 2023.

To start the process, we are conducting a survey to listen to the Monash community’s views on environmental, social, and governance priorities.

Renewal Process and Timeline

Initial Consultation

The goal of this phase is to quickly get a sense of what the key ESG priorities are for people across Monash. It also aims to increase awareness about the University's ESG commitments and get more people involved in updating them.

To kick-off this consultation, Monash students and staff, including those at the international campuses and at Monash College, have been invited to complete the online ESG survey. If you missed the email, you can access the survey here.

The survey will be open until 21 March 2025.

Green Paper

A green paper will be drafted to outline the key expectations, issues and opportunities that emerge from the Phase 1 consultation and other considerations relevant to the ESG Statement renewal, including our current ESG performance and the strategic direction and priorities for Monash outlined in Impact 2030.

Wider Consultation and New ESG Statement Development

Further consultation relating to the green paper will be undertaken in parallel with the development of the next ESG Statement.

Consultation on the green paper during this period will extend beyond students and staff to include alumni, industry and government partners, as well as specific audiences across Monash.
