Coulibaly Laboratory

Structural Virology

Welcome to the Coulibaly Lab

Our research uses structural biology, protein engineering and molecular virology to understand viruses of relevance to health and biotechnology.

We're part of the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, and a member of the Infection and Immunity Programs and the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Our research

Our research aims to reveal how viruses make our cells their home, multiply and dodge immune defences to ultimately cause disease. For this, we use structural biology approaches to generate high resolution 3D models of viral components, which underpins the rational design of new vaccines and drugs to combat viral pathogens. We also investigate viruses do not cause disease in humans but are beneficial to human activities through their engineering for biomedical and biotechnological applications.
