Join Fletcher and Knoblich lab
Current projects | Student research projects
Welcome to our lab! We love our research, and we love and support our people (in a workplace-appropriate way, hello HR if you are reading). We take a small number of outstanding students each year, and provide individualised mentorship and training. We are unapologetically choosy, as we need people who are as outstanding as our research. In return, we offer interesting projects and, often, authorship opportunities - even to undergraduate students. Our lab is fun, and our motto is “embrace stupidity”, because in science, if we know the answers, we aren’t asking the right questions. We learn from our mistakes, but we aren’t afraid to make them. We acknowledge the fear and risk associated with bold research, and we step forward anyway.
Whether you want to research, invest, donate or partner with us to accelerate our life-changing discoveries, we'd be delighted to hear from you. We have opportunities for PhD students, post docs and senior researchers to join our lab. Feel free to contact Dr Anne Fletcher and Dr Kostas Knoblich with any queries.
Industry involvement
We have strong links with industry. A patent, based on inventions by Dr Fletcher regarding on a novel fibroblastic reticular cell therapy, was granted in the US in 2019, and is still under prosecution elsewhere. Dr Fletcher was recently named a Key Opinion Leader for industry in fibroblast oncoimmunology and regularly consults for industry partners. The laboratory is set up for contract research and target testing using a novel, clinically relevant assay cascade with primary human tumour samples.
Clinical partners
We are proud to partner with the Cabrini Monash University Department of Surgery, Melbourne, Australia, and the Birmingham Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy Centre (CIIC), UK.
Donate to our lab
We never stop thinking about how we might cure serious disease, and we have been proud to partner with a range of incredible, generous donors in the past, whose gifts have helped us progress towards our goals. These gifts have funded projects that otherwise may not have seen the light of day. Any amount helps, and we have in the past gratefully received donations ranging from $50 to $50,000. These have funded student prizes right through to research projects that helped identify novel strategies for testing new cancer drugs.
If you are interested in partnering with a research lab to fund a big idea, we have a number of ideas which carry the promise of breakthrough results. Please contact us, we would love to discuss these with you, and if you do choose to contribute, we would also like to keep you involved and share our progress with you as the work progresses.
