Join Nguyen lab
Current projects | Student research projects
Whether you want to research, invest, donate or partner with us to accelerate our life-changing discoveries, we'd be delighted to hear from you. We have opportunities for PhD students, post docs and senior researchers to join our lab. Feel free to contact Dr Lan Nguyen with any queries.
The Integrated Network Modelling Laboratory is seeking enthusiastic students to conduct research into computational systems biology, network modelling and cancer cellular signalling. Both students with a strong computational background with an interest in biology AND students having a wet-lab background with an interest in quantitative modelling are welcome to join the Lab. A variety of projects for Honours, MSc and PhD students are available.
We are employing novel approaches combining computational modelling with experimental validation to dissect and understand the properties of signalling networks; and utilise this knowledge to derive new therapeutic strategies that can overcome drug resistance. A multitude of computational methods including deterministic (primarily ODE-based), stochastic modelling, rule-based simulations and experimental techniques including proteomics, biochemistry-based assays and imaging will be integrated to develop accurate and predictive models of these networks in normal and disease contexts. Prospect candidates who is to work on available projects will benefit from a highly interdisciplinary and stimulating environment in the Lab by interacting on a daily basis with researchers with both dry and wet expertise.
Candidate requirements
Candidates with computational background should have a high level (H1) Honours degree (or equivalent) in either (Applied) Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering or related disciplines. Candidates with experimental background should have a high level (H1) Honours degree (or equivalent) in either Biochemistry or Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology or a related discipline. Students currently completing an honours degree are also encouraged to apply. Students intending to apply for competitive scholarships/fellowships are encouraged to contact Dr Nguyen to discuss in details.
Available scholarships
A PhD scholarship (1x computational) are currently available to apply for (commencing in 2020).
