Assistive Robotics

With an ageing population and workforce shortages in the healthcare field, our researchers will pioneer the development of new strategies and technological solutions needed to enable the elderly and people with disabilities to achieve a high quality of life in their own homes.
Robotic prosthetics and exoskeletons can offer improved quality of life and physical functioning for people with disabilities or undergoing rehabilitation. Robots can help to stimulate and aid recovery and strengthening, or help with physically demanding tasks. Much like AI assistants Siri and Alexa, in-home companion robots can also be used to help social interaction, offer alerts and reminders for appointments or medication use, or to complete simple medical monitoring tasks.
