UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)

Monash University has been an Observer Organisation of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 2016.

As a UNFCCC Observer, Monash sends delegations to the annual UN Climate Change Conferences (also referred to as Conferences of the Parties, or COPs). COP is the most important annual global climate change event. It includes high level negotiations on the global climate change agreement (the Paris Agreement), as well as an extensive program of side events on every aspect of climate change action.

Monash has a wide range of world-leading expertise in climate change, spanning faculties, cross-faculty institutes, and our Net Zero Initiative.

Monash’s involvement with the UNFCCC is coordinated by the Monash Sustainable Development Institute and Global Engagement. Find out more about Monash at COP below.
