Heritage Immersia
Heritage Immersia is a WebXR-based cultural heritage platform designed to introduce young audiences to world heritage sites through immersive and interactive virtual experiences. The platform begins with a web interface that presents a curated list of heritage sites, developed as a pilot featuring three representative heritages from Indonesia, China, and Sri Lanka. Each heritage entry provides a brief description and contextual information, allowing users to explore cultural diversity before transitioning into an immersive experience.

When users select a heritage site and activate the WebXR mode, the environment transforms into a virtual reality (VR) experience where the heritage site is presented in an immersive 3D space. Within this VR environment, users are guided by a virtual avatar that acts as a cultural guide, delivering concise explanations and storytelling about the heritage’s history, meaning, and significance. By combining accessible WebXR technology, immersive visualization, and guided storytelling, Heritage Immersia transforms cultural learning from passive browsing into an engaging, exploratory experience that supports cultural awareness, digital preservation, and inclusive access to global heritage.
