Geospatial technologies use many types of sensor data integrated with location for achieving sustainable development goals. These tools are fast and cost-effective techniques compared with ground-based techniques. This seminar will present the different types of case studies and research carried out using GIS methods in achieving sustainability and in identifying patterns and the hotspot in pinpointing highly susceptible areas that need to be addressed.

About the speaker

Muhammad Shahzad Sarfraz
Professor & Director, National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Pakistan

Dr. Shahzad Sarfraz is a prominent figure in the fields of Computer Science and Geospatial Technologies. He spearheads key thematic areas including ICT tools for Health, Agriculture, Disaster Management, and Location-based systems, with a keen focus on their applications for the Environment. His academic contributions are substantial, encompassing more than 60 journal and conference papers. Additionally, he has developed tools tailored to organizational needs, conducted readiness assessments. Currently serving as a Professor in the Computer Sciences and Director at National University of Computer Science, Pakistan. His remained Ph.D. scholar at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand and also served as visiting researcher in the Digital Image Processing lab at the National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo, Japan. He is a senior member of IEEE, ACM and many other renowned societies.
