Pavilion Two

Pavilion two focalises on waste design principles of adaptability and designing for disassembly. The designs are driven by the revival of not only waste items, but the revival of Melbourne’s laneway history. Chancery lane harbours a long history of waste production, specifically relative to Victoria’s early dairy industry. This unearthed opportunity to utilise dominant waste items in the area to retell this narrative. The designs also encourage the up-cycling of single-use plastics and to create architectural responses that educate the public.

Hybrid Map

A hybrid map describes an introductory visualisation of the project proposal. The laneways chosen unearth a long history of waste production and collection relevant to what was occurring on these sites during Melbourne's presence in the 19th century. Alongside the concept of reviving waste, the designs that follow propose schemes to revive and retell the narrative of Melbourne's forgotten laneways through the employment of waste material specifically relevant to their early use and to encourage change amidst single-use culture.
