Hi there - I'm Audrey! I'm a recent Communication Design and Software Development graduate. Although I hold a love for print and typography, I'm passionate about UX/UI and how I can help people through digital experiences.
'It's Time We Talk, Period' is a campaign that aims to break down period stigma and its repercussions, such as period poverty and lack of women's health education or awareness.
The Design Research Kit
I created a design research kit with its form reminiscent of a pad to gather a wider understanding of both guys' and girls' period experiences and stigma in our community. Through creative research activities, the kit prompted people to reflect on how they felt or understood periods and stimulated them to imagine a world free of period stigma. Both the findings and form of this design research kit led to the campaign's foundation.
It's Time We Talk, Period' Pad Kit
The research showed repeated images where people shared how discreet they felt they had to be when holding or exchanging period products. This kit aims to break down these perceptions, particularly in high school students aged 16-18, as it takes on the form of a pad. The kit was designed to be completed in pairs where they would exchange it once completed to normalise not only sharing period products but destigmatising periods.
It's Time We Talk, Period' Pad Cards
Included within the kit are cards with some essential educational content and questions that encourage individuals to reflect on their own period experiences. To answer each question, two blank response cards are included. The first card has a QR code to invite individuals to the accompanying website and the instructions for completing the kit.
It's Time We Talk, Period' Poster Templates
Along with the kit, A2 sized poster templates are provided where students can present and share their response cards with others.
'It's Time We Talk, Period' Website (Desktop Version)'
The third part of the campaign is providing the students (and others) with a digital space where they can upload their posters and responses. This platform also holds resources for both teachers and students to complete the kit and activities.
It's Time We Talk, Period' Website (Mobile Version)
Above is the mobile version of the website. I designed this view as people would most likely use this version more if they accessed the website using the QR code from the kit. This version is identical to the desktop version regarding content, but the challenge was organising it so that it's comfortable and easy to read on a smaller screen.
