Design, for me, has alway been about people. I love to design for people, design with people and especially design to help people. Work with a human narrative, and a strong purpose is my cup of tea (and I love tea). My interest in diversity, education and inclusion has manifested in print, motion, illustration and typographic outcomes. I also love getting off the laptop and using my hands to printmake, draw, cut and mould - I find this tactility so refreshing. To see more work, visit my website. I adore a chat, especially with a cuppa!
StreetSexEd. Posters
StreetSexEd. Is a poster making workshop for young people to make posters sharing the sex and consent education they value and want to communicate with other young people.
StreetSexEd. Tote Bags
The hand printed tote bags are made using lino cutting and hand painting techniques. The bags are for the workshop participants to thank them for their time and further promote the StreetSexEd. message.
StreetSexEd. Poster Making Instructions
This poster provided prompts for workshop participants to respond to in their posters.
StreetSexEd. Posters
Despite being created my different hands, the posters are still cohesive as they have the StreetSexEd. tagline, a limited colour palette and shared materials.
Design Research Kit
I conducted research on the sources of young people's formative sex and consent education. Collecting both qualitative and quantitive data, participants filled out a range of activities to reflect on their initial sources of education on a range of sex and consent topics.
Results of Design Research Kit
This graphic shows of the findings of the Design Research Kit, comparing the thoroughness of the sources, especially highlighting the disparity between sex and consent education from school (thorough and narrow scope) and friends (less thorough but very broad scope). These results informed the design outcome of the workshop, as it gives young people a platform to share their experiences and learnings in a less rigid environment than school but with moderation to prevent miss-information.
