Hi, I'm Michala! I'm a soon-to-be Communication Design graduate based in Melbourne. My design interests include motion design, illustration and brand identity. I am continuing studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in marketing, and combining these two degrees has evoked an interest in the psychology of advertising and the way we engage with modern methods, which has inspired my 'Activation' campaign.

This poster represents the imposition of advertising in the 21st century. The layered pop-ups aim to highlight the bombardment of modern advertising methods, and the way it distracts from and clouds our lives, values, personalities and interests.

'The Imposition of Modern Advertising'

Through my research into its impact, I found that those I interviewed were often unaware of many of their interactions with modern advertising. We are often drawn in by companies and brands, promising to improve our lives and social perception. Peaceful and calming scenes, interrupted by garish pop-ups, remind us of the ever-present nature of advertising today.

Pop-Up Stickers

These stickers were designed to grab the attention of passersby, using irony as a reminder of the incessant nature of advertising and engaging viewers through the use of bright colour and familiar imagery.
