‘Knack’ is a series of educational kits to help people to learn how everyday technology works (specifically a: camera, speaker, battery and screen). The kits empower users to demonstrate their right to repair, reduce e-waste and be part of a circular economy. Unlike existing devices that are intentionally difficult to manipulate, ‘Knack’s’ kits teach the user how different devices are assembled, the components within them and how they work by encouraging tinkering and exploration. After the ‘Knack’ experience, a curious user should have the confidence, skills and knowledge to tackle repairing their own existing devices.
