The Birrarung River sprawls across Melbourne creating patches of parkland through a number of suburbs. Many Melbournians were especially thankful for this parkland during the lockdowns. But, how many of these locals have considered taking a dip and playing in the water of the Birrarung?

The intention of this sculpture is to promote people’s awareness of the rubbish entering Melbourne's river systems. It hopes to entice people’s curiosity and encourage them to interact. In doing so they can play with the water and experiment with different ways to manipulate its flow. Engaging with the river by playing with the water seeks to
evoke a deeper sense of connection to local waterways.
