The name of the design project is LakeRoom. As the name implies, it is a spatial installation placed on the lake. The entire design will be positioned on top of a man-made lake in East Lake Park in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, to provide extra space for nearby residents and their pets. The exterior and interior are designed in a bionic way, imitating mushrooms and cacti. The idea is to add new spaces and functions to the already completed artificial lake through vertical design, so that nearby residents and their pets can have more space to play.
In the spirit of reconciliation Monash University acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
