The Future of Play

Play and work are entangled in our everyday lives. When we are children, play is operationalised to support our learning and development. As adolescents, how we play shapes our identity. As adults, play is used to make us more productive and engaged. Emerging technologies are blurring the boundaries between work and play even further, monetising what we do in our free time and augmenting how we experience the world. This studio challenges these dominant cultures of play, and explores different cultural and temporal contexts to reimagine how we could play differently in the future.
