My name is Jessie Maddox and I am a graduating student from the Bachelor of Spatial Design at Monash University. Throughout my degree I have developed a strong interest in creating spaces that enhance the human experience. For my final project, titled ‘Placidity’, I have redesigned the Melbourne Royal Children's Hospital and speculated what that space may look like in the year 2030. More specifically, through this project I have explored how we can add elements of play into spaces that are not typically ‘playful’, such as a hospital. These spaces aim to allow these children to escape their reality and into their imagination.
In the spirit of reconciliation Monash University acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We pay our respect to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
