This project focuses on speculation about the future of camping. For the location of the project, I have chosen a grassland in Inner Mongolia that is experiencing desertification. I hope that through a short camping experience in the future, people will feel the harshness of the environment and realise the need to cherish the beautiful environment now. In this project, I focused on the integration of people and the environment, and how to spend a day in a safe and fun way in a harsh environment.

Watching a Sandstorm

This image shows an immersive view of a sandstorm for those who are traveling. Allowing them to see the sandstorm and barren grassland landscape up close in a comfortable and safe environment. In addition, when two balls collide, the beauty of the former grassland will be displayed through a transparent display on the ball.

The Future of the Grassland

This collage is a good example of what my site will look like in the future. This is the Hulunbuir grassland in Inner Mongolia, but it is experiencing desertification due to overgrazing and indiscriminate logging, even though many people are trying to protect it. In my speculative future, it may all turn into a desert with extreme weather conditions.

Desert Immersion Ball

This picture shows the whole process of my design project. My original idea was to design a place where people could safely watch sandstorms, but the design lacked interest, so I designed it as a ball that would roll with the wind. People can watch different desert scenery and experience the fun of random route camping.

The desert at night

When night falls, the warm led strip illuminates the entire interior of the ball, making the environment bright. When the sky is clear, the stars can be clearly seen because there is no serious light pollution here, which is a touch of beauty in a harsh environment.

Part of the function

In this diagram, key features are clearly shown. For example, how people get in and out of the ball and how the doors are opened. In addition, the scene shows the silent staff working to prepare everyone for a safe, travel experience. Examples include getting guests to their destinations quickly and safely by car, as well as cleaning and checking all equipment in each ball.
