My project titled ‘ Earth Amor’ sets out to respond to the question “How can Play alter confirmation bias to encourage collective action towards climate change ?” which inspired by the prevalent events of flooding in Australia. Play in this context is portrayed in the form of street art, specifically public art murals. Street art is playful, it tells the story of a community and broadcasts socio-political concerns in public spaces via subversive and rebellious playfulness. Therefore, I want to speculate what public art murals will look like in the future and how it can become a playful form of design activism to alleviate the impact of the Climate Crisis using the Archigram theory.

Earth Armour in action

Earth Amor’ symbolises a protective system of the Earth that consists of a series of art projecting vehicles assigned to encourage change in beliefs, habit and action by altering confirmation bias. The series of art projectors collect data digitally from its hub where local graphic artists can submit their work from home. These projectors roam around the city during a flood. They project art created by local artists onto the streets and buildings, delivering the message that creators want to share with the community amid a natural disaster.

Collage of Future of Play

Showcase my imagination for the “Future of Street Art”. Play in this context is portrayed in the form of street art, specifically public art murals. Street art is playful, it tells the story of a community and specifies socio-political concerns in public spaces via subversion and rebellious playfulness. Therefore, I want to speculate what public art murals will look like in the future and how it can become a playful form of design activism to alleviate the impact of the climate crisis using the Archigram theory.

Earth Armour in community

Atmosphere on site

This image provokes a sense of urgency for the community to take action as people will feel more alarmed about the effect of climate change during a mutual suffering of a flood. The art projectors will now become non-human activists, alter confirmation bias by intervening individual disbeliefs of the climate crisis effect to advocate collective efforts in maintaining a neutral carbon footprint society.
