Eleanor Rabl

Eleanor Rabl is an artist inspired by nature and being. Her artistic process explores the complexities of the mind and inner dialogue in relation to her immediate and conceptual surroundings. She finds solace in the repetitive and creative processes of art-making and utilises visual expression to reflect on her connectivity to the wider world. Working across a variety of mediums such as mixed-medium sculpture, drawing and painting her work explores themes and concepts such as humanity, consciousness, and belonging.

Evolutionary Aberration - Eye See You

Oil on canvas, 91 cm x 122cm

‘Evolutionary Aberration - Eye See You’ explores a dystopian future in which a botanical entity colonises humanity through technology. The artwork presents the intricate beauty of a Cyclamen plant in sinister, malevolent tones as it raids computer mainframes for personalised data. The inclusion of the human-esque eyes suggests consciousness and intention since the ability to ‘see’ allows one to weigh consequences and make decisions with clarity. This artwork explores the nature of greed, domination and defiance by changing the narrative of power through natural selection; evolution has given a voice to a subverted consciousness - and it's fighting back.
