Monash Art, Design and Architecture Student Exhibition 2022

Ella Jorgensen

As an artist, I explore ideas of female identity through the intersection of colour, shape and form. These works are an extension of this interest using Japanese watercolours on painted cardboard to showcase organic forms that vary in texture and opacity.
I have drawn upon artists such as Hilma Af Klint, Anges Martin and Amy Sillman’s The Shape of Shape, 2021 MoMA exhibition to expand my work and challenge my ideas of colour and shape.
The colours and forms in each work are carefully and closely considered, as they are the basis of my research into the relationships between each piece and the identity they inherently create.
