Incorporating the ethos for sustainable mobility, the Wetlands Rest Stop is a part of a network of rest facilities integrated within the overall site and extending outwards into the future. The proposal for another Macrolotto, an educational hub close to Prato, incorporates a system which provides accessibility to the users and social anchors to grow the potential site.

Wetlands Rest Stop

The Wetlands Rest Stop fosters a sustainable mode of transportation for the workers and overall community that reside in and around Prato. Incorporating a bike dispensing and storage system with additional facilities for recharging electric bikes and scooters.

Systems of Rest Stops

With the use of a radial grid, the Rest Stops provide a means for access and connection throughout the site. With future use, the cycles of intensity and access to the site will extend to neighbouring the airport, universities and train stations.

The second diagram showcases the manner in which form of the rest stops caters to its landscape.

Wetlands Rest Stop Sections

Through the utilisation of temporary structures, the Rest Stop facilitates seasonal bird observation. The mechanism is attuned to bird presence, whereby triggering the opening in response to its detection. After the seasonal period this structure can be utilised for social anchors in the future.

The internal perspective showcases the dispensing and storage of the bike system within the rest space.
