Revive was developed after a series of participatory workshops with Blicks, a bushfire affected community in Northern NSW. Spanning across four localities, this community makes up a diverse and wonderful set of people. Sitting at the heart of this project is the revival of public spaces, where a series of wayfinding solutions, public amenities, shelters, and pedestrian access points have been designed to promote and strengthen the Blick’s identity and sense of place.

Public Amenities

In response to the Blicks Community need of public amenities, this design captures an off-grid composting toilet system, available for implementation in multiple locations. Designed with locally sourced rammed earth, this project requires minimal maintenance, whilst offering fire resistant qualities.

Public Amenities Section

Located in the mountains of the Clarence Valley, access to essential services are limited. Hence the incorporation of a composting toilets along Armidale road, providing both residents and visitors a place to stop and rest along the long drive.

Pedestrian Connections: Footbridge Render

Pedestrian connections offer safe and accessible infrastructure that connects Tyringham and Dundurrabin, two local communities within the Blicks area. Currently the existing pathway is overgrown, and hazardous as it lines the Armidale Road highway, where speed limits are viewed as a guide only by those using the road. Through the implementation of new recycled concrete pathways, speed limit reductions, and a pedestrian footbridge, the danger that the local members face when travelling between social hubs can be reduced and avoided.
