Something Like a House, Frontality Render

The site is characterised by its elongated geometry, featuring a slender width, half the dimension to its length, with the southern edge abutting the neighbour- ing park. It sits in a corner with two hard edges be- tween its neighbours and a partially open edge between the sidewalk and the park.
The ordinary lot possesses generous proportions, the 6-pack sits hard on the southern boundary, typical in typology with cranked edges facing the park. The lot is unique, abutting on its long side towards the south, blurring the perimeter it orients itself along the park and towards the road, giving generous access to two edges with hard sides to its neighbours.

Something Like a House, Back Facade Render

The back elevation presents a facade orientated against the Clarke Reserve park. Here are an assort- ment of 8 individual private outdoor areas facing outwards, each enclosed by balustrades and walls. Each of these are divided by solid walls and structur- al slabs, which encase the balconies and patios with furniture externally oriented towards Clark Reserve park. All areas feature a sliding door and one other window, with the exception of the first floor which has 3 more windows. The sunroom for the largest unit on the ground floor is located on the back facade of the building, adjacent to the patio to the left of the same unit with two sliding doors.

Something Like a House, Ground Plan

The ground floor of the building accommodates two units of varying sizes. One unit occupies two-thirds of the entire floor plate, while the other claims the remaining third adjacent to the garden. The building’s envelope takes on a trapezoidal shape in plan view, with the left edge being longer and gently tapering inwards toward the right perimeter. Each unit features a single hinged entrance door located along the longer edge.

Something Like a House, Side Elevation Street

The shorter side of the building faces the street and stands out due to its lack of entrance doors and limited openings. It features five windows on the front, including two sunrooms that are nearly floor-to-ceiling, which contrasts with the other three windows. The front of the building is closely aligned with the right boundary, while there is a spacious area on the left that extends the entire length of the site, leading to a private garden. To the left of the building, there are angled staircases for access to upper levels. A communal patio, with an awning slanting towards the street, is located between the building, the park, and the street.
