Jackson McCarthy

Whilst undertaking his vocation in design, Jackson has learnt to embrace the mistakes, and learn from them. Very often the work that Jackson has been most pleased with started out as something quite different, but then a happy accident led to something much better. What this means is that it pays to be flexible, especially in design. Jackson is a keen photographer, and he creates videos, music and photographic works, with several years of experience in the freelance creative field. Today, Jackson focuses on a career in aviation.

'Butterfly Effect'

Drawing a sharp contrast between the awe of nature and the sometimes ruthless imposition of man's will, this project aims to interconnect vignettes around consumerism, isolation, and workplace culture. Shot on Fujifilm X System and DJI Hasselblad, featuring animations rendered in Apple Motion, all edited in Final Cut Pro X. We recognise the relationship between humanity and its environment as two equally important aspects of the modern world.

Blind Test

The implementation of advanced vehicle technologies holds immense potential for enhancing road safety and mobility for older Australian drivers. With age, visual impairments often become more pronounced, affecting driving capabilities. Advanced technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warnings, and automatic emergency braking can compensate for reduced vision and slower reaction times, mitigating the risks associated with these challenges. This outcome aims to highlight the blurred lines between associated costs and access to these technologies, using a visual aesthetic similar to that of an eyesight test.

Chelsea

The photographic material conveyed in this publication is representative of my own experience in Chelsea. It seeks to carry sensorial applications with reference to its well-documented history. Conversations were made with a wider demographic of residents, and from this I learnt a lot about the treasures and bonds of Chelsea.

'Ozone'

Field recordings- waves crashing and a stream. A cliffside beach, bearing a natural acoustic field within the bay. The effect is a seismic basin of waves and force- subtle thunder. Recorded via Audacity and compiled in Ableton Live 9.
