Hi! My name is Jasmine, and I enjoy working in identity, typography and UX/UI, however, have also branched into publication, motion, photography and videography. During my course, it has been fun exploring different specialisations, and developing my skills in each, and I’m constantly being inspired by things around me and other designers to create new things. My major project this year has been Activation, where I’ve tried to experiment on different things outside of my comfort zone, which has really helped my grow my skillset.

No Phones at the Dinner Table

Since there has been a rise in smartphone usage in general, it has become quite normalised that people use phones at the dinner table. Some people do this instead of having a conversation with others at the dinner table, so I decided to create a game to spark some conversation.

Chronically Online

After collecting data from people, we were asked to create an infographic displaying the most interesting things we discovered from the research. I decided to display my information in a smartphone shape, which gives a visual indication on what the infographic would be about.

Let’s Evaluate…

In addition to the game, I created a self evaluation book which helps users assess their level of screen time, in hopes that users can see the extent of their addiction. This comes hand in hand with the game to encourage users to put down their phones, and try to manage their addiction.

Ask Them How Their Day Was Stickers

On top of the game, a sticker sheet was created with little reminders for people reading them to put down their phones and have an actual face to face conversation. The idea for these ones comes from users getting these stickers and using them for decoration. They’re able to place them anywhere, for example on their phone cases, on their laptops, on traffic light posts, and even on mirrors as a constant reminder to manage their addiction. If they place them in public places, strangers can also get these reminders too.
