Hi, I'm Chun Fai from Hong Kong, I've been with Monash's Bachelor of Architectural Design for a few years now, and even though I've struggled here and there, I still managed to push through to this point. I have been interested in architecture and its relationship with surrounding cultural identity and history, and although this project and studio don't fully sympathise with my initial interests, it's one of many projects to help explore my interests in the field.
Although this project might be a little boring to look at, I hope you will still find it interesting and enjoy my exploration of design, material, and place.

(Short Description taken from my Folio) [HTML Studio]: For this studio, we are positioned in Fishermans Bend, a site that recently became the Victorian government's goal of redevelopment. In cooperation with FB Ideas, we are tasked with designing a project that embodies ongoing social and economic changes while anticipating major changes ahead.
[Studio Brief]: Through the examination of Fishermans Bend over different scales of time and location alongside with materials from one of many waste streams in the site, develop a project which is designed around metabolising these materials.

Responding to the opportunities created by the Fishermans Bend revitalisation project and looking into building as materials, I’ve designed a proposal tapping into this potential material.
Investigating possible uses of the material outside of architecture and experimenting with reusing rubble to create new functions and activities.
The project as a result resembles a material recycling station that responds to Fishermans Bend’s expansion and a ‘playground’ for people to experience the material.
Additionally, playing with the idea of “Kintsugi,” to showcase and celebrate the material while highlighting the active demolition around the site.
Project Proposition Poem
(Text for Screen Readers) Fishermans Bend, Demolition, Concrete - Opportunity
Fishermans Bend revealed history of changes, From Virgin, Industrial Scarred, to Abandoned. Now Fishermans Bend has returned to the Focus, Demolition underway, Abandoned to Forgotten Memories. Materials generated from Memories given Chance to be Freed, So through Education could we given them Form.
A Chance to Remember and Reborn from history, a project born, Placed in hidden? Behind Machines? Between Minds? A project for experimentation and learning, the products of waste. Given form, as structure or entering a cycle of constant rebirth. Thus a project born, gasping at ideas for purpose...
Material Test Model 1/3
One of three experimental dog models using the chosen material for my design proposal: quick experiments exploring the physical characteristics of the material and informing the initial direction of our project.
(Poem/Conversation with Material): > ”Hello rubble, reclaimed from the Bend. Forgotten, will be forgotten, where do you want to go?” > ”Be free I want, be used again I want, not forgotten, never forget me!” > “Reclaimed from the Bend, second chance, how do you want to be remembered?” > “Scatter me! Compact me! Break my form! Return my form! Don’t forget me!” > “Oh rubble, may you scream loud, shout your story so you may never be forgotten!”
