A view from the river

Mission to Seafarers building existed upon mutual support of seafarers, their family and community. To modify the building is to respect the hard work of the previous, to respect the deepest love that exist in the community, and to respect Ladies Harbour Light Guide, the friendly society that funded most part of the building. My approach seeks to revitalize the existing building in the modern age where the physical building remains unharmed but the spirit of it has greatly faded.

Tales for the Angels is a public project that aim to create inclusive and accessible spaces within and beyond existing building. Accessibility means easy access to knowledge, sunlight, fresh air, and to the environment itself and to what it means to be human. Inclusivity means equal access to the space, for everyone, regardless of their race, gender and class.

A view inside the library space

Through spatial strategies such as addition of programs, new facade intervention and
repetition to make space, this project values sunlight, open space as means to bring the outside in, through celebrated exposed structure.
