My project includes two small-scale interventions prototyped on-site in Koo Wee Rup, engaging visitors with the immediate complex, layered post-industrial environment previously known as the Great Swamp. My project is an attempt to reframe and connect the community with the drainage network and its broader context through recreation and play. The repair and activation of the site through the two seating interventions intend to challenge colonial farming and industrial practices by encouraging connection and appreciation of the site. Our prototypes are part of the first built outcome of the project Swampworks, a collaboration with Cardinia Shire, Melbourne Water, Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne, Department of Energy Environment and Climate Action and Landcare.
