Ravenhall Quarry Restoration Principles

The Ravenhall restoration project will be developed through three main strategies: environment, energy, and community. The community strategy is vital, as local residents will be directly impacted by the restoration. By prioritizing community needs, the project aims to create accessible spaces for recreation, education, and engagement, ensuring the site serves as a valuable resource. Together, these strategies will transform the former quarry into an environmentally sound, energy-efficient, and community-centered space.

Community Space for Ravenhall

A community space at Ravenhall is essential due to several factors. First, there is a shortage of public open spaces in the area, making such a space valuable for recreation and social activities. With rapid community development around the site, a designated area would help support and connect the growing population. Its proximity to the CBD, Melton city center, and Business Accelerator and Center of Excellence in Melton makes it strategically positioned to serve as a collaborative and accessible hub. Additionally, excellent access to public transportation means the space would be easily reachable, enhancing community engagement and cohesion.

Ravenhall Community Space Development Principle

Initially, the site will support the rehabilitation process. Once ecological stability is achieved, the space will be redesigned to serve as a community hub, offering recreational and educational amenities for the public. In its final stage, the area will be integrated with Indigenous values, incorporating cultural elements, native flora, and land management practices to honor and reflect the deep connection between the land and Indigenous heritage.
