Hi, I’m Alex. I believe that design should resonate with someone after they’ve seen it. My philosophy is that design should speak to us, and I aim to achieve that through bold, engaging and purposeful design. I specialise in identity based outcomes with a focus on print and digital based outcomes.
Listen UP is an all-Australian festival, promoting artists from across the country and celebrating our music culture whilst using the festival’s revenue towards bettering industry conditions. It acts as an engaging way to bring people back to the live music sector whilst raising concern and offering solutions for the issues affecting our Australian musicians such as inequitable pay.
Listen UP – Festival Ad
The Listen UP Festival Trailer showcases the brand identity, with rhythm and colour throughout. The trailer is aimed at advertising the festival to potential customers, with calls to action and showcases of the headlining artists and the festival experience.
This series of posters aims to show off the impressive lineup of Australian artists more prominently, through vibrant colour and bold varying typography to catch the eye.
Listen UP – Event Catalogue
The Listen UP campaign is more than just a festival, it's a call to action for change in Australia's music industry. The event catalogue allows those attending the festival to read deeper into some of the core issues that Listen UP aims to tackle, and some of the solutions that it proposes, such as the All-Australian lineup, or the Discover Stage. for emerging local talent.
Listen UP – Various Applications
The Listen UP brand extends across a variety of applications to be used on the day such as disposable drink cups, lanyards and festival wristbands. This shows off the branding's versatility and allows the colourful and diverse identity to be emphasised across the week-long event.
Clement Meadmore – The Art Of Simplicity
Clement Meadmore – The Art Of Simplicity is a speculative identity project for a State Library of Victoria exhibition detailing the life and work of Melbourne born sculptor Clement Meadmore. Meadmore's designs and sculptures were unrecognisable in their simplicity and elegant form, and the identity of the exhibition aims to reflect and capture the essence of Meadmore's weightless sculptural forms.
Melbourne Cinémathéque
My proposed identity for the Melbourne Cinémathéque aims to focus on the people, and people-driven storytelling through cinema. Using the framing of the eyes and face to place emphasis on the eyes as the lens of the people, it centres around telling the stories of people through the art of film. I also wanted to emphasise the texture of film through halftone and using colour and gradient to create an air of dramatic tension throughout the branding.
