I’m Jesslyn, a communication design student passionate about identity, branding, publication, illustration, with a commitment to using design as a force for positive change. My design practice is rooted in creating impactful, human-centered solutions that bridge visual storytelling with social relevance. Centered around creating thought-provoking experiences that explore the intersection of personal identity and collective consciousness, I strive to inspire awareness, foster connection, encourage open conversations that make a difference, and contribute to initiatives that uplift and empower communities.

“Mental Wellbeing Blueprint” – Design Research Kit

The Design Research Kit is developed to collect both qualitative and quantitative data from participants, giving them engaging activities that reflect on their emotional well-being. The physical components of the DRK were complemented by digital adaptations, ensuring accessibility for a broader audience and diverse engagement. This stage was crucial in ensuring the campaign would be built on human-centered insights, addressing real experiences of mental health challenges. Understanding that these insights would form the backbone of the mental health campaign, the kit’s thoughtful design aimed to make the process of reflection and response intuitive and engaging.

“Mindful Voices: Mind Matters” – Poster Series

The “Mindful Voices: Mind Matters” campaign poster series is the culmination of a passionate journey to spotlight mental health awareness and support. The choice of visuals, from soothing backgrounds to uplifting typography, is intentional—each element works together to convey messages of empathy, resilience, and community support. The posters invite viewers to consider the importance of open dialogue around mental health, aiming to reduce stigma and encourage reaching out. This marked my exploration into the power of design as a medium to not only spread awareness but also foster a sense of shared human experience.

Data Visualisation – The "Mental Wellbeing Blueprint" Infographic Poster

This shows the infographic poster I developed based on the data gathered from the research kit. Analyzing and visualizing this information was crucial for identifying trends and understanding the emotional landscape of my participants. The data highlighted key insights, such as the importance of peer support over professional resources, and common coping mechanisms like mindfulness and creative outlets. This stage underscored the importance of clarity in presenting data to drive effective communication, as the findings directly informed the direction of the mental health awareness campaign, emphasizing the need for openness and support systems.

“Mindful Voices: Mind Matters” – Installation Pop-up Event

This immersive spatial pop-up event serves as the centerpiece of the campaign. This installation would offer an interactive, sensory experience (displaying affirmation messages), allowing visitors to connect with mental health topics on a deeper level. The pop-up event would serve as both an educational space and a safe zone for reflection, fostering a sense of community and support. This design proposal formed the heart of my campaign strategy, offering a memorable and impactful way to engage the public in mental health awareness with both physical and digital touchpoints.

"Mindful Voices: Mind Matters" - Collateral

This features the collateral of my campaign "Mindful Voices: Mind Matters", including collectible merchandise like stickers, badges, and t-shirts. They capture the spirit of the campaign – encouraging open, positive conversations around mental health, extending the campaign’s reach, giving participants physical reminders of the cause. They are crafted to be small tokens of support, which participants can wear or share with others. They spark curiosity, foster conversation, and encourage individuals to express support for mental wellness openly.

Australian Wildlife Playcards - Educational Instruction

The “Australian Wildlife Playcards” are designed to captivate and educate early primary school students, promoting curiosity and care for Australian wildlife through fun and interactive gameplay. Each playcard features surreal yet whimsical illustrations of iconic animals. Combining visual appeal with essential educational content, the animals' profiles were crafted to ignite young imaginations and impart knowledge in a way that resonates beyond the classroom. The project aims to build a foundation of awareness and respect for biodiversity, contributing to the growth of socially conscious individuals who feel empowered to protect and appreciate their natural world.
