Monash Art, Design and Architecture Graduate Exhibition 2024

My design concepts and outcomes draw upon my interests in digital fabrication, web design, and interactivity. My Activation project, titled 'Memento', is a campaign that encourages people to reflect on both the quantity and quality of time they spend with parents and loved ones. For many, especially older adults, the discomfort of vulnerability can lead to an avoidance of reflection and action, often resulting in feelings of guilt and disconnection. Memento gently guides individuals to prioritise quality time and create new experiences with those they care about, in a warm and approachable manner.

Memento: Calendar-Style Activity Tracker

The calendar-style activity tracker is a physical record of the user’s progression of activities. Each unique activity is a single square, marked off upon completion. The calendar also serves as a storage space for any small trinkets or mementos that may be collected from an activity.

Crafted from laser-cut Blackwood timber and finished with an oil-based stain, the calendar is made to last. The wooden frame holds a removable paper insert, allowing users to begin a new series of activities whenever they choose.

Memento: Activity Cards

The deck of activity cards serve to suggest new experiences and spark fresh conversations. Different colour-coded categories guide users to the right activity for their current environment/situation.

Memento Website

The website is a personal space for users to log their activities in great detail, giving them time to fully reflect on what they've done and revisit positive memories.

After completing 30 activities, users unlock the ability to upload their profiles to share with other site visitors. This goal aims to encourage users to continue with their journey, and upon completion, are given the opportunity to start a new collection of activities.
