Hi there!

My name is Maddi, and I have had the amazing opportunity to live in four continents and seven countries. This journey has shown me one universal truth: people will always find a way to connect and communicate beyond written language. With a passion for communication (surprise!) design, I’m drawn to print, publication design, and event promotions, crafting work that’s intentional, playful, and personable.

My activation campaign addresses a common issue in today’s world: stress, overwhelm, and social media reliance. I’ve designed a hand-drawn suite of icons to convey these themes, ensuring each icon communicates individually and as part of a cohesive visual language.

Studio Blue: calendar

This calendar is part of the membership kit, designed to help our customers keep track of the scheduled craft sessions, whilst being able to add their own events and reminders. Each monthly spread features personalized icons that reflect that month’s upcoming classes.

Studio Blue: membership kit

INCLUDED: Tote bag, apron, calendar, stress ball, stickers, paint pallete, mug, candle, pencil case, pens.
The thought purpose behind this is to provide the customer with a range of merchendise that will be necessary in the studio classes, and can continue to be used afterwards.

Studio Blue: storefront

Aiming to create an eye-catching yet welcoming storefront, I positioned window decals featuring our icons to frame the monthly class schedule, making it easy to update as the year progresses. Adding an A-frame with a clear call to action offers passersby that final nudge to step in and give the studio a try.

Studio Blue: poster series

Since my campaign focuses on encouraging people to disconnect from their phones, I created a trio of A2 posters over a website or social media post. Designed to spark curiosity the posters subtly invite the public to explore what's coming, rather than imposing the message too directly.

Melbourne Cinemathique

My concept aims to give viewers a glimpse into the soul(AKA the eyes) of the Cinémathèque, grounded in its passion for film. The rounds that form the eyes in my design are taken from vintage film posters, staying true to the project’s essence. Being able to direct the direction the eyes are looking introduces playfulness and guides the viewer’s gaze, sparking curiosity and inviting them to follow the eyes' focus.

The ability to change the rings of the eyes is key to the concept, symbolizing how each viewer sees and interprets a film uniquely. This flexibility encourages the design to reflect individual perspectives. Additionally, the shifting images within the eyes seem to create a flickering effect, like fleeting memories of film, which I believe will captivate and intrigue viewers.
